She Leads: Costa Rica

by Daniel Munoz, Founder of Mindful Waves

As the rainy season settles in here in Nosara, I usually find myself traveling during this time. But this year, I made the intentional choice to stay rooted and focused on growing Mindful Waves. While it’s been quieter here, this pause has allowed me the space to reflect, recharge, and focus on projects beyond the beach. Most of you know me for my surf coaching, but I wanted to take this opportunity to share some of the other meaningful work I've been diving into! One of the highlights has been organizing the She Leads event for women entrepreneurs. Creating a space where we could connect, grow, and support one another was so rewarding—it truly reminded me why I love what I do! As an entrepreneur, juggling all the aspects of running a business can feel overwhelming and, at times, lonely. That's why I put this event together, knowing there had to be other women like me out there, seeking connection and support. As I navigate my own entrepreneurial journey, connecting with women who are facing similar challenges made me feel less lost!

On vulnerability: One of the most powerful moments from the event was witnessing how quickly the women felt comfortable enough to open up. Vulnerability became a source of strength and connection, reminding us all that growth happens when we allow ourselves to be seen.

On sisterhood and support: Throughout the event, there was a profound sense of sisterhood. Whether through sharing stories or simply listening, the women created a circle of trust and empowerment. It showed us that healing is a collective journey.

On empowerment through surfing: The ocean reminds us to embrace the ebb and flow of life, ust the same way in our jobs and business.  During the event, we explored how the challenges we face in the water mirror those in our personal lives—and how riding through them gives us the strength to grow.

Takeaway: What stood out most was the realization that we all have something unique to offer. Every woman left the event knowing that her voice, story, and journey are valuable to this collective space!

If you’re traveling to Nosara in the coming months, I’d love for you to join us at the next She Leads event! It’s an amazing space to connect with inspiring entrepreneurs, business owners, and founders, where we can share ideas and support each other. Also, if there’s an event or collaboration you’d like to be part of during your time in Nosara, we’re open to your suggestions. Let’s continue building this wonderful community together!
